I love partaking in design events. So this Saturday, I embarked on a fun, but challenging venture with Design Like Mad. Design Like Mad is an event that’s in its first year, but it looks like it will become a regular occurrence in Madison, WI after the success that was this weekend. What it entailed was working in teams of designers with a non-profit to provide design collateral within a 12 hour design crunch period.
What I learned was that I really miss doing more group work and building off of my peers. Some of the best ideas come out of collaboration.

It was lovely seeing familiar faces and meeting some new ones too! Here is the Penny Aguilera fan club (my favorite web design teacher at Madison College).

The non-profit I worked for, Richard Davis Foundation, requested a website and there were some complications with wrapping up a website in a 12 hour timeframe, but it was an interesting venture. I will be wrapping up my portion of the volunteering this week as I hate to leave a project unfinished, but we did come pretty darn close to finishing it. Maybe another 2 hours would have done the trick. I am totally in love with what we did for the design. Here is the mockup I created with the help of our team.
